**Benson - Cattle Dog Mix**<br/><br/>Benson is a sweet, loving boy with lots of personality and energy. A fabulous combination of cattle dog, rat terrier, chihuahua and Pomeranian means he is a smaller boy with a very smart mind! He loves to play hard and have fun, but he also enjoys his downtime and is happy to settle in and relax.<br/><br/>Benson does have strong herding instincts and can become anxious or overstimulated when young kids are running, yelling, or playing loudly. For this reason we are saying older children only as a small child could be caught off guard! Benson is a smart dog who would really benefit from consistent training, structure, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. He needs someone who can help channel all that energy in the right direction and give him opportunities to use his brain. He adores his frisbee and would love to play with you!!! Herding breed dogs do best in homes where they have a job or responsibility to do whether its helping get the mail, working in the garden, finding hidden toys, or spending time at doggy day care a day a week for "work". Stimulating and exercising their mind and body are key to a happy herding breed. <br/><br/>Medically Benson is very happy and healthy!! He is fully vetted including all vaccinations, microchip, negative 4dx test for heartworm and the 3 tick borne illnesses, neutered, full health exam and health certificate!! We have discovered he does have some sensitivities to flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Benson has had seizures in the past but does not take meds per his vet as they have never been consistent. The vet does feel they may be related to topical flea/tick medications and his sensitivity to them. We will provide a years worth of flea/tick/heartworm prevention from our partner VetAFARM as part of his adoption. It is a company based in Australia and we have had very good results when it comes to these issues. Per our vet We also have Benson on a chicken free diet due to potential sensitivites. This combination helps keep Benson at his very best! <br/><br/><br/>Overall we cannot say enough about how great Benson is!! Knowing the characteristics of a herding breed dog and any breed dog for that matter is important when bringing a new dog into your home! Benson is a great boy with a lot of potential - he just needs the right environment, some guidance, and someone willing to keep him both physically and mentally challenged. He will be an amazing companion for an active and outgoing home.
