Benson's Story

Benson
3yr old Bullmastiff mix

Hi! My name is Benson, and I am looking for my forever home. I am a happy and loving boy.. I love people and do well with most other dogs. When I am unsure of things, I tend to bark, but it is only to say
‘Slow down and give me a minute to process things”.

I currently live with my small terrier mix foster sister, she has taught me all my tricks on how to be a good boy and get lots of treats and cuddles.

I unfortunately would prefer not to live with cats. I don’t understand them and it would be best to just keep my distance. They move so fast!

I am good on my own at home when my foster family leaves for work or errands, I usually try really hard to go with them, but once they are gone then I just sleep or look out the window waiting for them to come back.

I do really like to cuddle nothing is better than some cuddles on the couch watching a good show or taking a nap. My foster mom works from home some days, and those are my favourite, we hang out in her office, and I can sleep all day on the dog bed.

I love my 13-year-old human foster sister; she is my world right now. We spend our evenings in our room, watching tv, talking to friends and playing video games. At night we snuggle in, and mom has to drag us out of bed in the morning. I follow her everywhere; my favourite is when her friends come over and we all hang out together!

I love to explore the back yard, especially playing ball. I live for my toy balls, all balls. I usually have a ball or stuffie with me at all times. If you come to visit, I will show you my really cool ball collection!

I can sometimes play pretty hard so a family with older dog friendly kids or no kids would be best. I am only a young buck myself, so I am still working on my manners.

With time, patience and love I think I could be a good walking companion. I am pretty strong and like to explore, so someone willing to work with me and teach me more would be great!

I have been working so hard to become the best boy I can be. I am learning to use my ears and listen. I am very food motivated, and I get very excited for any food and will always encourage sharing.
Someone with breed experience would be considered an asset, but someone willing to love me, accept my quirks and just be my person is the most important. My foster mom promises I am truly worth it!!!

The adoption fee is $600 and includes spay/neuter (dogs over 6 months), vaccines, heartworm test (dogs over 6 months), deworming, Flea and tick prevention and microchip. Please visit www.paws-united.com to fill out an application.
**For puppies under 6 months a $200 spay/neuter rebate will be given with proof of spay/neuter certificate signed by a vet, if they have not been done prior to adoption.**
**Please note we DO NOT adopt our dogs as outdoor/farm dogs. These dogs are coming to us as stray, roaming or dogs that have lived a life tied to a chain. Our goal is to bring them in the house off the chain and give them a pampered indoor dogs lifestyle. Unless otherwise stated we will not even consider a home that has intentions of leaving our dogs outdoors or tied to a chain**
***We do require every applicant to provide a vet reference and we do follow up with your vet. If you do not currently have a vet as you have no pets, we strongly encourage you to do your research and contact vets to make sure they are accepting new patients. You must have a vet in place before bringing a new dog home. You will be required to give your vet permission to release information to us, we also require two personal references as well that will be contacted. We have policy and procedure in place while screening homes. If a family refuses any step in the process they will not qualify for adoption. We are not currently doing adoptions across the boarder.***

There is an adoption donation for every dog adopted. This is to ensure that we can continue rescuing/re-homing the dogs in need. It helps pay for food, vet bills and any other expenses that the dogs require while in foster care with Paws United Dog Rescue. Each dog goes to their new home after being vet checked and vaccinated. Any dog over the age of 6 months has also been spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. All dogs over the age of 6 months have also been heart-worm tested. All adopters will receive a medical history and be made aware of any behaviour problems and any known history from before the dog came to us.
