Say hello to Benny, a happy-go-lucky 4 year old Border Collie with a heart as big as his smile! Benny is the perfect mix of sweet, smart, and playful, always ready for a walk with friends or a cuddle on the couch after a fun day.<br/><br/>This handsome boy is a true social butterfly — he loves people. Benny is affectionate and loves to be near his people. He loves to be pet and gently jumps on people to give hugs. His expressive eyes and wagging tail say it all — he just wants to love and be loved.<br/><br/>Benny is the perfect mix of calm and energetic. He gets excited to go on adventures and loves meeting new people but he also enjoys some cuddles on the couch. He is easygoing and happy to just be around people and get pets.<br/><br/>Benny is smart and seems excited to learn commands and tricks. He picked up sit and paw in the first day! He is extremely treat-motivated and takes treats gently. Benny is potty trained and hasn't had a single accident in his foster home! He is also already kennel trained and would not mind a home with someone that works outside of the home. He rests perfectly in his kennel while his foster is away.<br/><br/>Although Benny was found with another dog and has had multiple successful meet and greets with other dogs, Benny does seem to be selective with new doggie friends and a home without other pets would be ideal. He is able to be walked near other dogs, and is even currently being fostered with multiple dogs, but seems to be fearful when other dogs are in his face. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent!<br/><br/>The adoption fee of $600 includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP and booster, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test, heartworm and flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet!<br/><br/>We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024.
