BENNY BOY's Story

My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!! Hi There! Benny Boy is a playful, large boy who has had sleepeovers where he played with toys, was comfortable in the home, loved his couch and being handled. Knows sit, responsive on the leash, enjoys a great roll in the grass. A chill friendly guy who would love a home where he's treated like one of the family. He has been at OCAS for 100 days or more. Please consider taking a second look at this wonderful boy. Staff has noted that while here, he have been friendly towards new people, appear to be housetrained, and have done with with medical exams. Staff still recommends slow and monitored introductions to any new people and animals in the home INSIGHTS FROM MY ADVENTURE BUDDIES: Benny Boy came over for a sleepover and he was a very good boy. He was respectful in the home. No jumping, counter surfing or trying to take food. I actually ate near him several times and he just laid next to me without even begging. He can be a little particular about treats, mostly preferring chicken and other meat treats. He can hold a sit and be patient. We took him on several walks. He is quite strong and does pull at times, but after the first walk he did start to calm down and pull less. He is kinda funny when riding in the car. He likes to sit or stand on the floor and look backwards instead of forwards. He did do well when meeting my dog, picking up on her cues when she didn’t want to play anymore. He really likes hugs and cuddles. He found a whale toy that he played with for hours. He had some difficulty with resting in the crate at night, so that will need some work, but he’s very smart, highly motivated and trainable. Benny is a big sweetheart and anyone will realize that when meeting him for the first time. Benny is the sweetest boy. He loves car rides and the lake. Benny is a huge cuddle bug and loves to be snuggled. He loves toys especially big ropes to play tug of war. Benny does pull on a leash but does amazing on a gentle leader. He is a very big boy and likes to sit on people’s laps. Benny doesn’t like thunder. He seems to be house trained. Benny is the sweetest dog and we will definitely come back to take him on another vacation! Benny Boy is a friendly dog. He is strong! He would need someone who can handle a strong dog. He pulled moderately on leash while being walked and really pulls when another dog is near. I think he just wants to play with the other dog. Friendly dog, no barking! Benny Boy is pure sunshine. He loves people and is so happy to be by your side. He loves hikes but also enjoys lounging and being a couch potato. He’s a Velcro dog for sure. Great with other dogs—very playful. Can be leash reactive to other dogs because he wants to play so badly. He loves to play tug. It’s probably his favorite thing. He even knows to get his toy when you say “go get your toy.” He needs more help with leash training but is very smart and toy/food motivated. He's so fun and loving! I’ve taken Benny out for multiple hikes and he’s such a good trail partner. He does pull on leash but I’ve found attaching him to a hip belt helps. Once he walks some on that, he pulls less. We also like to run and play in the field (on a long lead). He’s the sweetest and happiest dog. Instant dopamine boost when you hang out with him.
