Benji's Story

Adoption Coordinator: Linda

Benji is a 1 year old, 18 pound Terrier. He was found as a stray. Benji loves playing with other dogs but can be a little much when meeting new dogs and people. He is very active and has a lot of energy which is indicative of a very intelligent dog requiring not only enough physical play but also mental stimulation. Benji loves going for car rides and is very friendly towards people including children; however, as with meeting dogs, he gets very excited meeting people. He has not been cat tested so a cat free home would be best. Benji is crate trained and well on his way to being house trained.

When Benji was brought to the vet in TN, they discovered he has Enamel Hypoplasia. This condition stained his teeth because the outer layer (enamel) was thin and compromised. This condition requires treatment from a veterinary dental specialist. He is scheduled to see a specialist March 5. His treatment will be covered by the rescue but: 1) he will require periodic checkups with a veterinary dental specialist; 2) he may not be given any hard toys to chew on and; 3) will require daily teeth brushing with a special paste. His adoption fee is $400.

Please complete an online APPLICATION if you wish to adopt. Forever Home Rescue New England is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a network of foster homes in the South and the New England area. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SHELTER LOCATION. If you wish to meet our dogs, you must first be approved by going through our application and screening process. Forever Home Rescue suggests obedience training for all puppies and dogs. All dogs are up to date on their shots, dewormed and spayed or neutered. Vet fees, transport fee and New England quarantine fees ARE INCLUDED in each dog's adoption fee. Also, any dogs older than pups--even if they are not marked housetrained in their posting---usually housetrain within a day or two, because most are used to living outside in the south and will prefer to do their business outdoors. Our dogs and pups are best suited for families with children 5 yrs old and up. If you are approved to adopt, please submit the $100 deposit by clicking on our rescue's name in this posting (Forever Home Rescue New England--in purple) which will bring you to a new page with the deposit link at the bottom. STOP! If you have not been notified of your approval status do not make a deposit.
