Benji's Story

UPDATED 3/20/2026 Hi! My name is Benji! I'm a super friendly 8-year old male beagle. I'm a happy pup! I'm a very loving guy! I love to hang out on the sofa with my people! I also love to go for long walks! I was crated a lot in my former home, & so I don't like the crate now. If I have to be confined, then it's better to baby gate me in the kitchen. I've lived with young children & I love to play with them! When I came into Nittany Beagle Rescue, I drank excessively. Nittany Beagle Rescue took me to the vet & it turns out I have Cushings. I'm on meds for that & they work great! I don't drink excessively at all anymore! The meds for that are $93/month through Chewy. I got a little chunky & I'm on a diet. Once I loose more weight, the cost of my Cushings meds should decrease. I'm housetrained. I usually go outside about 3 times a days. I've lived with another dog & I did ok. I'm great with cats! I'm already neutered & up-to-date on vaccines. Please think about making me part of your family! I've been waiting quite awhile for my forever home to come along! Nittany Beagle Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue dog & Nittany Beagle Rescue! We are a foster-home based rescue. We hold showings on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month at Lyons Kennels in Bellefonte, PA from 11am - 1pm. You can meet some of our dogs then! Please email or send a PM on our FB page if you want to know if a particular dog will be at the showing. If you are interested in a particular dog, or a type of dog, please submit an application to foster or adopt (it's the same application form). Once you have an approved application for a dog, we will connect you with the dog's foster parent. Typically the potential adopter & foster talk on the telephone first. Then if the dog seems like a good fit, we arrange a personal meet & greet.
