Benita's Story

Hello! My name is Benita. I'm a 2-year-old Terrier blended gal who weighs 33 lbs. I'm happy, playful, affectionate and curious. I'm looking forward to finding my forever home where I can shower my person with love. My name is derived from Spanish and Italian origin, and it means "blessed" or "fortunateā€. What a perfect name, as I feel so blessed and fortunate that you are considering ME to be a part of your life!

Favorite Things: Benita's favorite thing in life is playing with balls! She doesn't seem to care much about other toys, but if you give this gal a ball, she is a happy camper. She also likes attention and loves cuddles from her humans. She is also an independent lady and is content to go off and do her own thing.

Training & Manners: Benita is housebroken in her foster home and will need to be kept on a regular, consistent schedule. She walks well on a leash and enjoys going for walks. She loves riding in a car and has good basic manners. She does sometimes cower when approached from overhead (this could be fear or anxiety from her past). Her future humans should keep that in mind and avoid this to make her comfortable. She can be protective of her food, so this should be managed appropriately, especially if her new home has other pets. Benita is not much of a barker. She is not a fan of rainy weather and gets nervous during inclement weather. Benita is very intelligent and additional training should be a breeze.

Health and Care: Benita is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She appears to be a healthy gal and will just need her monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any dog. She is a low-maintenance girl and will just need an occasional bath and nail trims to keep her feeling her prettiest.

Other Animals: Benita has experience with dogs of all sizes and would do well with a canine sibling. She will tell overly playful dogs to back off when she has had enough. She could also be the only dog in her new home . . . more attention for her and extra snuggles for you! She has not been tested with cats, but her foster thinks she would be okay with a feline friend.

Children: Benita has not been around children in her foster home. We think she would be okay in a home with older children (10+), as long as they approach her slowly and with kindness.

Ideal Home: Benita isn't choosy and would do okay in a house, apartment, townhouse or condo. She can stay home alone in her secure area for several hours without issues. At night, she sleeps well in her secure space.

Overall: If you are looking to welcome a snuggly, playful and sweet girl to your life, maybe Benita could be the one? If you think you could be the apple of her eye, please visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org (http://www.poodleandpoochrescue.org/) and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, her foster family will reach out with more information. Benita's adoption donation is $400.
