Benita's Story
~ From the street to hope
A dog showed up one day at a woman's home, tired, skinny, and dirty. The woman welcomed her with water and food, but the pup remained in the street as the woman could not take her into her house. The dog decided she had finally found a safe place, so she didn’t leave. The woman continued to care for her, but she knew the lovely dog needed more, and she wanted to help make that happen. She reached out to Nayeli asking her to give Benita the shelter and medical care she truly deserved. At the vet, they discovered she was battling ehrlichia, a tick-borne illness, but with treatment, good nutrition, shelter and love, she recovered.

Benita is about 5 years old, weighs around 21 kilos, and is a Mountain Cur mix beauty.

With her sweet and gentle personality, she gets along wonderfully with humans of all ages, from little kids to teenagers and adults. She enjoys playtime with the other dogs at the shelter, but when she has had enough, she politely lets them know by barking; Benita likes to set her own boundaries and appreciates when others respect them. She is not bothered by traffic or loud noises and absolutely loves car rides, always ready for the next adventure, even if it's just a trip to the vet. Like many dogs who had to survive on the streets, Benita can be a little protective of her food, so mealtime in her own space works best for her. When it comes to toys or her cozy sleeping spot, she’s more than happy to share. Benita would thrive in most any home. She would do well with another calm or medium-energy dog and/or children or teens in a home. She's also perfectly content as the only dog. This sweet girl just needs her daily walks so she has the opportunity to explore, and enjoy life.

Benita’s adoption fee is $550, which includes her flight, spay, vaccinations, and full vetting.
