Belle's Story

<br/><p class="MsoNormal">Hello!  Belle here, and I’m excited to tell you a little bit about myself… First, I’m looking for a new place to call home. You see, my master thought he, my fur-sister Lucy, and I would all grow old together, but he isn’t able to take care of me (well, my sister Lucy and me) anymore. He loved us so much and took very good care of us for many years.  Lucy and I have been living in a Brookline “foster home” since mid-November. I don’t know what a foster home is, but we’re pretty easy goin’ and it’s pretty easy livin’ here. </p><br/><p class="MsoNormal">Lucy and I are both (how shall I say this?) “Golden Girls.” I’m 11 years young and Lucy turned 10 years old in November.  I am a beautiful purebred black lab (with a little graying around the muzzle).  I had been a svelte 85 lbs most of my life, but as my master’s health declined, I gained a little (ahem) weight. I’m now 100 lbs and working on taking off a few of the extra pounds.  Otherwise, I’m in great health for a senior citizen. I still enjoy a short game of fetch, a walk around the block or two, a quick round of wrestling with Lucy, and lots of belly rubs.  At my age, however, I’m also content to relax around the house most of the day.</p><br/><p class="MsoNormal">I’ve never lived with cats, but I’m not sure I could put up much of a chase these days. I know lots of commands, though I’m pretty rusty with my leash manners. Folks say I’m not a “barker.” I love people, especially grown-up people. I am what some folks call a “Velcro” dog.  I roam room-to-room just to be with you, and I’d like to spend much of the day with my head in your lap. I live with two small humans now, and I put up with them. They do like to feed and pet me, so I guess that’s okay. People also say I like to be the “alpha” dog. They say that because some other dogs don’t know naturally that I’m the dog in charge. So sometimes I have to tell other dogs how it is. Not all dogs, though. Those pups who know I’m in charge are really cool with me… like my sister Lucy.</p><br/><p class="MsoNormal"> So, that’s it… Got room for a couple of “golden girls” in your life?
