Bella's Story
Meet Bella, a sweet 7-year-old girl who is looking for a patient person willing to give her time to feel comfortable. The shelter environment has been a lot for Bella, and during her evaluation she mostly wanted to stay near the exit and head for home. As she relaxed, though, she showed a softer side, eventually climbing onto the couch to lie near her handler.

Bella is a shy girl who may need some time to adjust to new people and surroundings. She does best when she can approach at her own pace, and tasty soft treats like wet food, lickable treats, or soft cheese can help her build positive associations. She may have a little trouble with crunchy treats due to missing teeth.

Bella came from a home with several other dogs. When meeting a new dog here, she was initially curious but became uncomfortable when the other dog was too forward. She clearly communicated that she wanted some space and would prefer a calm, gradual introduction. With the right introduction and a plan to give both dogs space, she may be able to live with another dog.

Because Bella is still learning that the world is a safe place, we recommend giving her a quiet transition into her new home before expecting her to visit busy places or meet lots of unfamiliar people. We also require young children to meet Bella before adoption, with all interactions supervised so her body language can be understood and respected.

Bella may not be the dog who rushes up to greet everyone, but with patience, understanding, and time, she may show you just how sweet she can be.

Bella is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines.
