Bella's Story

Humanitarian adoption - I'm house-trained, I have no interest in running away, I can stay alone in the house, and I love napping stretched out on the couch. But don’t be fooled—I’m not just a couch potato, I’m full of energy! I need daily exercise to stay balanced. I love being outdoors and I’d really like my future humans to share that passion! A big fenced yard where I can play with my family would be a huge plus.

Speaking of family fun, I’m growing closer and closer to humans! I love bonding with people and care deeply for those who take care of me. That said, I’m still a bit of a puppy at heart, and sometimes I get overexcited and forget to be gentle. That’s why a home with children over 8 would be ideal for me.

One important thing to know about me: I LOVE wooden sticks. "Love" might even be an understatement. I love finding them in the forest, dragging them around on walks, and fetching them when they’re thrown. It’s important to make sure I don’t hurt myself with them. At home, I prefer playing with stuffed toys—and I don’t even destroy them!

Like a good German Shepherd, I take my job as an alert dog very seriously. And with a strong voice like mine, I’m pretty effective. You’ll always feel safe with me around! That said, apartment life wouldn’t be a good fit for me. Car rides are a bit of a wild ride because I LOVE THEM.

I get so excited that I need a little pill to help me calm down before traveling. In the past, city walks were very challenging. I used to be really reactive—cars, motorcycles, trucks, anything noisy scared me a lot. My foster mom worked hard with me, and with tasty treats and positive reinforcement, I’ve overcome my fears!

I hope to soon share my joy for life with a family of my own! Will you be the one to open your heart to me?

Medical : X-rays confirmed the presence of an old fracture that healed on its own, with moderate joint remodeling and a slight depression. The vet does expect that Bella will develop inevitable arthritis in the affected hip in the medium to long term. We’ve agreed to implement a preventive joint care plan to preserve her comfort (Flexadin Advanced injections, and Cartrophen, j/d diet). That’s why Bella is available for a compassionate adoption.
