Bella's Story
Inside Bella’s sleek, muscled, red brown body lives joy, love, and an absolute zest for life, especially for people, dogs and the outdoors. She is the poster dog for all the outdoor camping and hiking stores and if they knew she was here, they would come calling to put her in their advertisements. This 10-month old, 55-pound girl came down from the north with a bad case of mange but has blossomed both in body and soul to the gorgeous, interactive, sweet, cuddly tomboy that was waiting to bust out. She runs like the wind when she is offleash on trails, following animal tracks with her nose and doing her fox- like hunting leaps to try to capture the little creatures she hears under the snow. She zigs and zags, zags and zigs and when out of the forest and into the fields, it’s rumble time with her foster siblings. Bella plays hard and fast, and she could be outside playing for hours with another dog who wants to do the same.

Once inside, Bella can be calm and quiet and more cat like – she likes to slide between your legs when you’re standing, lie across your legs or on your lap if you are sitting, or rub into you. She also likes to give gentle kisses and paw you gently so you will not just pat her, but rub her with your full attention. She loves to play with one of the foster cats and they will gently wrestle while lying down, Bella nibbling on the cat and the cat lying on his back giving her play punches. Then she uses him as her pillow and they have a communal nap.

While she looks grown up, Bella is still a young girl and she needs someone who understands that, someone who can laugh (because Bella is funny!), and wants to grow with her.

Once reinvigorated, this girl is ready to go outside for more run and play. While Bella does not have to live with another dog, she does need daily dog companionship and play. She has excellent dog skills and knows who is the boss of her and who isn’t…. well, everyone in her foster is the boss of her (kindly), but she doesn’t care. She is very respectful of the mum and pups who she is fostering with and turns her head and averts her eyes just to let Mama know she is not going to bother her and her new family.

Bella would love a country home where people are out and about, stacking wood, cross country skiing, snowshoeing or whatever other winter activity they do. She will happily join in with anything and do so with gusto and glee. She deserves to continue to live a mostly offleash lifestyle because she is used to it and loves it and it fulfills her agile and athletic self as well as her brain. Bella runs to greet people enthusiastically and will wag and jump until you acknowledge her.

Bella is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $650. She is currently fostering in the Caledon area.
As with all IFAW dogs, this awesome, happy, intelligent girl will be adopted to someone who is home all the time (even before Covid) as true companionship does not equal being home alone.

**A consult with IFAW’s dog centric trainer is mandatory for anyone interested in adopting Max at a cost of $80.
Adoption process includes application, virtual home visit, phone interview, reference check, meet & greet, positive reinforcement training approval, adoption contract and $650 adoption fee.

If you live an interesting life with your current dog, and want to smile as Bella smiles, feel free to fill out the ADOPTION APPLICATION at:

https://secure.ifaw.org/canada/secure/northern-dogs-adoption-application-form

(Copy the above link into your browser to access the application).

While everyone who meets Bella loves her, not everyone can provide her the life she so deserves. If you are the perfect fit for Bella, someone will get back to you within a few days of receiving your application. Due to the volume of applications, only those who meet her adoption requirements will receive a response.
