Becky's Story
Meet Becky!

***Foster Family Update!***

Foster Update for Becky!

Meet Becky, the adorable rescue pup who's been such a joy to have in her foster home! This playful girl warmed up to our resident dog right away and loves running around the yard, chasing leaves, and playfully keeping an eye on the birds. When playtime is over, Becky is just as happy to snuggle up with her dog friends or curl up beside her people - she even hides her face when she sleeps, which is ridiculously cute!

Becky is doing great in her crate and seems to be fully potty trained. She's food motivated, which makes her a fast learner, but she's also polite and patient at mealtime - waiting calmly in her spot until her food is served.

She's especially comfortable around women and warms up to them quickly. With men, she can be a little slower to trust at first, so it's best to let her approach on her own terms. Once she feels safe, though, she's affectionate and loves to snuggle - she just sometimes needs a moment to readjust when they re-enter the room.

Becky is a loving, gentle, and fun companion who's blossoming more every day. She'll make a wonderful addition to a home that gives her both the playtime she loves and the patience she needs to feel secure.

Becky is an adorable younger mixed breed pup who's one of 5 lucky dogs who came to us from our friends and rescue partners in Texas at the Aggieland Humane Society. They're all incredibly resilient, very sweet and they're ready for brighter futures.

Arrival update from our Adoptions Manager:

Staff Update on Becky

We are so excited to share more about this wonderful girl, our young and beautiful mixed breed who has quickly stolen our hearts here at the rescue. She's is a truly special pup with a loving, sweet, and vibrant personality that shines through in everything she does.

She adores everyone she meets and has proven to be playful, energetic, friendly, and wonderfully social. Hope does great with new people, enjoys the company of other dogs.

Based on everything we've seen so far, she has shown us that she's more than ready to become an incredible family pet, a devoted life companion, and an adventure buddy for the right home.

She is a gem, and we can't wait to see her thrive in the loving forever family she deserves!

This is your chance to become a hero in a dog's rescue story! Don't miss the opportunity to give one of these amazing dogs a new chapter in life.

If you're ready to open your home and heart, submit your application today for our flexible 3-7 day in-home adoption trial after a meet-and-greet. Your new best friend could be waiting for you right now!

Will you be this Lucky Pup's Hero?

steps to adopting

(OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!)

The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires.

To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our expense.

Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
