Bebe's Story

Bebe is the biggest of her sisters and started life as their protector, the one who would break up squabbles and always eat last to make sure the others had enough. There is no doubt that she is the reason they are alive. From the prospect of being killed if they weren't chosen at a flea market, to being alone in the wilderness in triple digit heat surrounded by coyotes and other wildlife, to battling parvovirus infection, Bebe and her sisters managed to survive.

Once they were rescued, they went to a foster home where they finally learned what it is to be safe and loved. Initially Bebe had no idea what to do with that. She had always been the one who cared for her sisters and had no clue how to be a puppy.

Bebe is extremely smart but had a lot to learn, particularly socialization. She was wary of humans, unsure of their intentions, though food became a quick way for new friends to win her over. She immediately loved the big resident dogs in the home and wanted to be just like them. She was nervous after her quarantine when she could finally run around loose with them, but they helped her learn what she needed to know, including that humans could be pretty cool too.

Bebe is the type of dog who, once you win her over, will be your friend for life. She is loyal and loving and will bond hard with her person once she finds them. When something frightens her she will run to her person for safety, then venture out to try again with more confidence. Bebe learns quickly and has a lot of training potential. She knows words she was taught, like "sit", "shake", and "spin", but also has picked up on words the resident dogs know, like "careful". Bebe does need a home with patience and understanding where she is given time to adjust. Once she finds a safe place where she belongs, Bebe will show you her real self and grow into the best dog she can be.

Fat Head Fosters Foundation's Adoption Policy
We verify residency (rent or own and if you have any breed restrictions). We also verify personal references, vet references, if current pets are up to date on vaccination and spayed/neutered. We do a meet and greet with the potential adopters first and then ask for a second one to meet current pets if applicable. This allows that first meeting a chance for you to focus on just the new pup.
