Beatrice's Story

Beatrice is a beautiful Malamute/Husky mix with the most amazing blue eyes. She is 7 years old, and has been through a lot in her life. She came to us in terrible condition. She was overweight, incontinent, and had a terrible bladder infection. After a visit to a specialist, it was discovered that Beatrice was born with a congenital defect that affected her urination control and needed surgery to help with her incontinence.

Beatrice has had the surgery she so desperately needed and has lost over 25 pounds. She looks and feels much better, but she has always been a sweet, darling girl. She is considered a “medical” dog because she needs daily medication to control her incontinence.

The perfect home for Beatrice would include lots of walks, hikes and car rides and a family who is devoted to her well-being. She loves to meet people and dogs on her walks and loves lots of pets and attention. She would do best in a home without small children, small dogs and cats. She likes larger, mellow dogs, but is not terribly playful. Being a husky, she loves spending time outside. And, even when it’s hot, she still loves her walks.

She is crate-trained, but the only time she’s crated is at night to go to sleep. She can be left unattended for up to four hours, and promises not to rearrange the furniture when you’re gone!
Please visit http://www.coastalk9gsr.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs: https://www.coastalk9gsr.org/team to see further descriptions. If you are interested in me, please contact us at information@coastalgsrsd.org or call (858) 779-9149. Don't forget to fill out our online application: https://www.coastalk9gsr.org/applications.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.
