Beary's Story

Beary is a happy, affectionate pup who's always thrilled to be by your side. He's a “shadow dog” through and through—following his person from room to room and greeting you with full-body excitement every time you come home or start your day. He's just as content playing as he is curling up next to you on the couch.

He's a smart boy who already knows “sit,” “down” (especially when reminded not to jump), and “wait,” and he's very eager to learn—especially when treats are involved! Beary is crate trained and doing well, and he's currently working on his house training with great progress.

On walks, Beary is enthusiastic and curious. He can pull on leash and gets excited when he spots wildlife or other dogs, but he truly enjoys canine company and settles down once he's had a chance to say hello. Because of his excitement level, he'll benefit from continued leash training and guidance to help him stay focused.

Beary can be a bit vocal and will alert you to any little sound—he's always on duty! He hasn't been tested with kids yet, but he may do best with older children who won't be easily knocked over by his enthusiastic greetings. He also hasn't met cats, and due to his interest in chasing wildlife, a cat-free home may be the best fit.

Beary is a loving, loyal companion who will thrive with a patient adopter ready to continue his training and give him the structure and attention he craves.

PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC and northern PA region
