She is a big pile of fluff, with soulful eyes and a gentle spirit. She was given away at 6 weeks old in front of WalMart to a homeless man, who soon abandoned her near the homeless shelter. She had a severe skin infection and a broken spirit.Bear has fully recovered from the skin infection, but is still unsure with people. She cowers down and requires gentle correction with lots of appropriate praise. Her wagging tail tells you she wants love, but she's not sure what to expect in new situations. Bear loves other dogs and ignores the cats in her foster home. She is looking for a patient adopter that is willing to put in the extra effort she requires to become a great pet. She will need to be mostly indoors in our California heat due to her thick coat. She will thrive in a home with schedules and structure.

Understanding Dog Levels

Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.

Additional Adoption Information

For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state.

Puppy Requirements

We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy or email us at info@gcgsr.org for more information.

Thank you for visiting!
