Bear's Story

Hi, I'm Bear!
Bear is over a year old, and every day he’s learning that the world can be a pretty wonderful place. His confidence is growing bit by bit, and it’s been amazing to watch him get braver with things that once felt scary (yes, even surprise plastic bags!).Bear came to WAG with his four siblings, and now that all of them have found their forever homes, it’s officially his turn.

Recently, Bear has been thriving in foster care with one of our devoted board members and her dog, Finn. New environments can be very scary for Bear, and he likes to take things at his own pace. When he first arrived in foster, he preferred the safety of the upstairs bedroom. Now? He’s venturing downstairs on his own, exploring, relaxing, and showing off just how far he’s come, like a total champ.

Bear and his foster brother Finn have become best friends. They love to wrestle and play together, and Finn has been a wonderful confidence booster for him. Bear has also been doing great with potty breaks, going in and out the door like a pro, and he’s really enjoying peaceful wanders in the woods behind the house.

While Bear can still be sensitive to new or unexpected things, reassurance and a calm, kind voice help him bounce back quickly. Once he knows he’s safe, his true personality shines and that personality is all about cuddles. Bear is the cuddliest boy, happiest when he’s close to his people, soaking up gentle affection and quiet companionship.

Bear would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help him continue building his confidence and show him the ropes. He is looking for a patient, loving family who will let him build trust at his own pace and continue showing him that the world isn’t so scary after all. With encouragement, kindness, and maybe a pocket full of treats, Bear will blossom into the most loyal, playful, and snuggly companion you could ever hope for.

Could you be the one to help Bear’s world grow just a little bigger?

If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider donating to Bear's care. Your donation helps fund urgent medical care, safe shelter, adoption and fostering programs, and essential community education on responsible pet ownership. With your support, our dedicated team can ensure that every animal receives the care, love, and second chance they deserve.

My perfect home:
Is patient and understands that I will need time to settle in and relax after my adoption and go at my own pace. I have had lots of huge change in my life recently and have a lot to learn.

Be proactive with my training, using a WAG approved trainer that will help me gain confidence and give me the best set up for success in my new life.

Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for morning zoomies and ball play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe works too.

Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health, whatever that may include moving forward.
