Ted's Rescue's Adoption Policy
We first like to set up a meet and greet with all members of the household, regardless of who will be the one signing the adoption contract. We will also like to set up a meet and greet with all animal members of the house hold as well. If all human and animal inhabitants agree to move forward with the adoption we have you fill out our application/contract. Once we receive the completed application we check your vet and personal references and schedule a home check. We only check for safety issue specific to each pet adopted from us. For example, small holes in the fence that a small 4lb dog may escape from that may other wise not be a problem if adopting a larger pet. If the home check has no safety issues to fix then we proceed with a one week adoption trial. This is to ensure the pet can decompress and settle in and everyone in the house is still on board with the adoption and all pets get along. If the week goes well, we sign the contract and send it back to you along with all the medical and shelter paperwork for that pet. We also collect the adoption fee at that time. If for some reason it doesnt wind up working out at the end of the week, we will take the pet back. If the adoption doesnt wind up working out after the one week trial and we have accepted payment of the adoption fee, we will take the pet back but the adoption fee in non-refundable. At no time will the adopter relinquish the pet to another home or a shelter. At any time after adoption if the adopter no longer wants the pet, the pet must be returned to our rescue or the adopter will face a fine of $5,000.00.
