When he was rescued from a heartbreaking situation, he weighed just 35 pounds. He was starving, severely neglected, and so weak that he could barely walk. Yet despite everything he had endured, Bear never lost his sweet, happy spirit or his love for people.
With proper veterinary care, good nutrition, and lots of TLC, Bear has made an incredible transformation! Today, he's a healthy 62 pounds and has blossomed into the energetic, affectionate, playful young German Shepherd he was always meant to be!
And Bear isn't just handsome — he's smart, too! He spent three weeks at K9 Heeling receiving professional training, where he learned numerous commands and developed good manners. He's eager to please, responds well to direction, and loves showing off what he's learned.
So, what does Bear love? Just about everything that makes life fun! Fetching balls, running, going for walks, playing, spending time with his people, and, of course, cuddling! He's an affectionate boy who enjoys being part of the family.
Bear's current foster family absolutely adores him, but their lifestyle isn't the best match for a young, active German Shepherd who needs plenty of exercise, engagement, and room to enjoy life. They want nothing more than to see this wonderful boy thrive in a home that's a perfect fit for him.
Bear's dream home would include:
• An active family who understands the exercise and mental stimulation a young German Shepherd needs.
• A securely fenced yard where he can safely run and play.
• Lots of love, attention, and opportunities for adventure.
• Children are welcome! Bear is friendly with kids.
• Perhaps another young, playful dog of similar size who would enjoy having a fun-loving companion.
• A home without cats would be best, as Bear enjoys chasing them.
Bear is house-trained, crate-trained, fully vaccinated, and has recently enjoyed a professional grooming!

A note about neutering: Bear has not yet been neutered, following his veterinarian's recommendation to wait until he is at least 18 months old, and preferably closer to 2 years, to allow him additional time to mature.
After everything Bear has overcome, he deserves a forever family who will cherish him, keep him active, and give him the wonderful life he was once denied.
Could you be the happy ending to Bear's story?
