Bear's Story

Hi, My name is Bear, I am a black and tan medium sized mixed breed dog and cute as a button! I am just over two years old and weigh about 27 lbs. Everyone who meets me tells me how sweet I am and that they just love me! I tried really hard to be a hearing dog, but it turns out I'm a bit too sensitive to sounds and I take some time to warm up to new people, so I've decided that's just not the life for me. I'd rather be a part of a family and spend my days playing and snuggling!

I've already learned the cues Sit, Down, Touch, Get Dressed, Go Potty, Wait at doorways, Leave it, and Come. I'm pretty reliable inside an enclosed area or home, but I haven’t had much off leash outdoor practice. I am working on longer Stays but do well with little distractions. When I'm done with my cue, my person says "Release!" and I know that I am free to go about my business. I even walk well on a leash and if I do scoot ahead of you, I do not pull, especially when I have my front clip body harness on. Check me out in the video learning to file my own nails by scratching them on a sand board! I'm looking forward to continuing training classes with my new family so we can learn even more together!

A nice long petting session makes me soo happy, so if I roll over on my back don’t be afraid to rub my tummy! I love down time where I can come curl up next to you and relax. Chillin’ next to my person with my head rested on them is on my list of favorite things to do daily! I love leaning on my person and being close.

I'm small but mighty and like to start each day with a fun activity like hopping in the back of a car and heading to a nice trail for a long walk or running around the back yard with you. I'll play with toys with you or by myself, but I really like to go outside and explore on walks. I love to play with other dogs of all different breeds. Chasing, being chased, wrestling around and tug-o-war are all parts of play that I can’t get enough of.

If you want a forever friend that will cuddle and play with you and every dog we meet, then I’m your guy!
