Bear's Story

Bear is an approximately 4 year old neutered male chocolate Labrador who was trapped as a stray in our small town in the coast range of Oregon. He had been going back and forth through town all summer looking for his people, but no one could get near him. Finally a trapper was called in, and Bear was quickly caught.
He has been vaccinated and neutered, and one local family has fostered him for the last couple of months. The family feels he needs to find a home where Bear can get more exercise than they are able to provide him with.
Bear loves his family but he really needs to have some basic training skills and socialization work. He has started doing a bit of resource-guarding, especially with mum and daughter.
Bear is house and crate trained and has been safe with the family cat. He IS a youngish Labrador and he needs to have secure fencing plus lots and lots of exercise. His dog to dog social skills are not great, but he does offer play with a calm female dog his own size after a lot of initial barking - and we are going to keep working on this.
As his confidence builds,he has become quite vocal. A home with masses of daily exercise and another calm canine mentor would be ideal for Bear. There is a nice boy hidden inside this brown bouncer.
NO small children (they might get knocked over) and secure fencing is mandatory. Cat intros and other dog intros will need to be slow and patient.
Bear is in foster care in Clatskanie, Oregon. His adoption fee is $200.

Jack Russell Rescue Oregon Washington & Idaho's Adoption Policy
We require an approved application before setting up a meet with any of our dogs. In most cases, secure fencing is a must - exceptions may be made for certain "Velcro" dogs and isolated rural properties, or for urban adopters who run daily. Except for certain dogs, no kids under the age of 6 is our rule of thumb, but it depends again on the dog and on the kids. We have a 2 to 3 week trial adoption period for all our dogs - we want everyone to be happy - and we back our dogs up for their lifetimes. Thank you for thinking of a rescue Jack!
