We were told he might struggle in a shelter environment - that he could shut down or act out. And while he didn't settle as easily as some dogs do, we never gave up on him.<br/><br/>Because underneath it all, Bear is just a sensitive boy who lacks confidence.<br/><br/>He doesn't need "fixing." He needs a leader. Someone to show him he's safe, that he's good, and that he belongs in this world.<br/><br/>Once Bear began to trust us, we saw his true personality start to shine. Knowing he would benefit from extra structure and guidance, we sent him to foster with The Dog Company, a local training and boarding facility.<br/><br/>There, he worked on:<br/><br/>Sit<br/><br/>Down<br/><br/>Place<br/><br/>Stay<br/><br/>Leash skills<br/><br/>Socialization<br/><br/>And guess what? He learned. He excelled. He was ready.<br/><br/>But still... no adoption interest.<br/><br/>Now Bear is in a foster home, and he's thriving. He is:<br/><br/>House trained<br/><br/>Crate trained<br/><br/>Happy and settled in a home environment<br/><br/>So why hasn't he been adopted?<br/><br/>Sometimes Bear doesn't make the best first impression. New situations can make him timid at first. He may seem unsure. But give him a little patience - just a moment to process - and suddenly he's wiggling all over for butt scratches and belly rubs.<br/><br/>That shy, hesitant first impression?
