Beanie 's Story
Meet Beanie — a tiny soul looking for a very special place to land.

Beanie is a 14–16-year-old Chihuahua weighing just five to six pounds, but don’t let his size fool you — this little guy has presence. He is sweet, unique, and quietly wonderful in ways that only senior dogs can be.

Beanie came to our rescue in rough shape — skin and bones, with painful teeth that needed immediate attention. Thanks to a full dental, bloodwork, and lots of TLC, Mr. Beanie is now comfortable, stable, and ready for what matters most: a soft place to land and someone who will love him for exactly who he is.

Beanie is considered a hospice dog, not because he needs intensive care or daily medications, but because he is very elderly and does not have a long timeline ahead of him. He does have some medical conditions we will discuss once an application has been submitted. What he does need is someone willing to let him live out his days with dignity, respect, and plenty of love — on his terms.

And those terms are reasonable ones.
Beanie is an independent little gentleman who values his personal space, especially when he’s eating or resting in his bed. Those moments are his downtime, and he asks that they be respected. Outside of that? He is affectionate, loyal, and incredibly endearing. Once he feels safe with you, he’ll happily follow you around and proudly back himself up for his favorite thing in the world: bum scratches. He also enjoys being held and loved on when he’s comfortable — and when he chooses you, it’s very special.

Despite his age, Beanie is not a stereotypical “yappy” Chihuahua. He’s quiet, low-key, and easygoing. He sleeps peacefully through the night in his playpen without making a peep. He uses pee pads most of the time, though occasional accidents can happen, so a belly band or readily available pads are recommended.

Socially, Beanie is a gem. He gets along beautifully with other dogs — big and small — and he’s also cat-friendly. He’s a social boy who enjoys companionship, though he can be shy with new people at first. A calm, patient adopter who understands senior dogs and respects boundaries is absolutely essential for him to thrive.

Beanie is currently in New Hampshire and ready to meet the person (or family) willing to open their heart to a hospice dog. We don’t know exactly how much time he has left — we believe it may be months rather than years — but what we do know is that every day he has left deserves to be filled with kindness, comfort, and love.

If you’ve ever thought about being a dog’s whole world at the end of their life — about giving a senior the gift of safety, warmth, and companionship when it matters most — Beanie may be your boy.

He deserves a very special home.
*His adoption fee is WAIVED, for the right home.*

https://www.livefreerescue.com/adoption-application
