Bea's Story
Meet Bea, aka Bea Arthur! This little sprite is somehow even more heartbreakingly adorable in person than she was in the shelter email that made all of us stop what we were doing and immediately fall in love.

Bea is a small, blind, feisty squirrel who arrived non–weight-bearing on her front right foot. She met the chaos of arrival in a strange place on her own terms: she shouted at every dog she encountered, ate an enormous dinner with great enthusiasm, found herself a bed she deemed worthy, curled up, and declared the day officially over.

Upon starting her medical care, we learned that her shoulder was fully dislocated in a way that could not be repaired. Our vet recommended amputation, and now Bea is finally able to live without pain. We weren't at all surprised when she was up and hopping about the very day after her surgery - she is small, tough, opinionated, and absolutely unforgettable.

Bea is excellent at using the potty pad, enjoys a brief and very important yard sniff, and requires 100% blanket coverage when resting. While wrapped like a burrito, she expects to NOT be bothered. By anyone. Ever. This is non-negotiable, and you'll get a stern telling off if you forge your own path here.

This tiny warrior is looking for a soft, peaceful place to land. In return, she promises to provide endless entertainment, just like her namesake.

We love this little squirrel so much and know her forever home is right around the corner!

Bea is approximately 9 years old and 4 lbs. More details to follow as we get to know her better.

Fostered in Rockville, MD
Please apply at MirisHaven.org
