Baylee's Story
My name is Baylee, and I'm a six-year-old red Lab. I weigh forty-two pounds, which puts me on the small end of labs. The best part about being me? Being outside! Sunshine, smells, the feeling of grass under my paws – it's heaven.

Sometimes, though, all the outside-ness gets a little too much. That's when my crate comes in handy. It's my safe space, a little den where I can escape the world. On some days, I run right in, feeling overwhelmed. Other days, stubbornly, I refuse! It's my choice, really.

When my humans leave during the day, the crate's supposed to keep me out of trouble. I bark and howl a bit when they're gone; I miss them! And truthfully, I'm pretty curious. I can't help but check out what's on the table, maybe liberate a sock or two. It's not like I *eat* them, I just…borrow them.

The house is a fascinating place. I love sneaking in and out, especially when my humans aren't watching. But if they *are* nearby, suddenly I forget how the doors work! It’s a secret talent, appearing oblivious.

Leashes? Big no-no. Toys? Not my thing. Give me a long-lasting chew, and I'm happy. I'm a bit shy, and I think I'd be happier if I had a buddy, another dog to show me the ropes of being brave and playful.

Mostly, I bark from my crate. Sometimes it’s just to let my humans know I'm there. Other times, I'm patrolling the house, keeping an eye on the neighborhood through the sliding glass doors and front windows. It's a very important job, you know. My humans say I need my new family to have patience, and maybe they are right, but I know I'll get there.

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.lolin.org and click on Adopt, Apply for a Dog.
