Baxter's Story
Baxter came to us from a rural shelter in Missouri. When he arrived at the shelter, he was in poor shape, severely neglected and essentially starved. With medical care and compassion, Baxter has made steady progress in regaining his strength and weight.

Baxter was initially very timid and leery of humans. Now, we are seeing his true character as he overcomes his past. Baster has a soft heart and gentle soul. He is cautious of new environments and shy when meeting new people. Once he feels safe, Baxter is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle and be close to his person. His initial struggles have not deterred his willingness to give unconditional love.

Baxter has had some short-term visits with a foster with the shelter which helped us learn more about him. He was very nervous around the foster’s six young and active kids. Baxter did not enjoy their presence and paced and jumped away from them. We think he will do well with fewer and older children. Baxter did well with the foster’s cats and did not seem to mind them. He did not seem to mind the foster’s older beagle. He didn’t get to meet the foster’s two golden retrievers, but when he saw them, he did not bark or do anything that would suggest aggression. Since coming to Serendipity, he has not had the opportunity to meet other dogs.

Baxter does well on a leash and enjoys his visits to the parks. He rides well in the car. Baxter hasn’t shown much interest in toys, yet! We expect him to quickly learn how much fun a ball can be!

We think Baxter will thrive in a home with GSD experienced people, to help him reach his full potential. Baxter is 2 years old, fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and ready for adoption!

-------------------
Our Adoption Fees:
-------------------

*Dogs and puppies 12 months old or younger: $450

* Adult dogs over 12 months of age: $400

* Senior dogs over 7 years of age qualify for our "Seniors FUREVER" program! Seniors are special to us, so we offer two options:

(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $400 and this becomes a perpetual fee.
