Baxter's Story

Name: Baxter
Breed: Lab mix (85 pounds of YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND AND I LOVE YOU)
Age: Senior, but don't tell him. He still has a full head of hair and the ladies love him
Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge
Current Location: Marshfield, WI

Meet Baxter- the perfect man. He’s housebroken (doesn't pee next to the toilet like SOME people we could mention), vaccinated, microchipped, and has a way better personality than your ex. We said what we said.

A word of caution: Baxter is not a huge fan of thunderstorms, and he does better in a "boomy room".... an interior bathroom, a dark closet, wherever he is somewhat shielded from the sounds and sights. Add a melatonin and he’s right back to being your charming, goofy sidekick.

Car rides: While Baxter would happily call shotgun and jump in the front seat, he doesn't know right from left and cannot read road signs, so you might want to consider a human for that spot. He is otherwise good with riding with you, especially if there is a pup cup involved.

Behavioral Highlights

*I am good with dogs and kids. Cats are an unknown, but be cautious. I do have a decent prey drive.

*I can be suspicious of men. TBH, it was one man, and it was my foster mom's boyfriend. He had shifty eyes. I have been fine with men elsewhere.

*Leash walking: A harness is a good choice with me. I am a big boy, and when we first set out on our walk, I get excited and may pull a bit. I redirect with a gentle "no", and settle into strutting my stuff like the superstar I am.

*“Affectionate nibbler.” I may occasionally mouth arms, shoes, or dog friends’ ears to remind you that you’re loved (and that you’re not paying enough attention). I will also use my head or paw to remind you that you are being remiss in the belly rub department.

*I may bark at sirens and strange dogs, but I stop if you ask nicely. Paying the cheese tax gets me to focus on being quiet quite nicely.

I will wrap my paw around your leg like we're about to slow dance to Marvin Gaye. Cancel your plans; I've got the playlist covered. I am big into 80s slow jams. You should be too.

I am dog-friendly and great with older kids who appreciate a lovable goof with no sense of personal space. I may knock over a very small human, but it would be accidental

Favorite Pastimes

Cuddling like it’s a full-time job*Looking at you with soulful eyes*Decorating windows with his best nose art*Sleeping like he just pulled a double at the snuggle factory

Walk-out song: Smooth Operator by Sade

Favorite season: Fall. So many sniffs to sniff, leaves to cronch through, and tailgate parties to attend! I don't even care who wins, I just want the brats and cheese curds!

Fashion: Red smoking jacket with velvet lapels. And some slippers. I'm fancy like that.

If you’ve got a sense of humor, a soft couch, and a heart big enough for a man like Baxter, apply now! He's been waiting for you!

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair).
