Basil's Story

Hello World! Meet Basil and Parsley<3

This sister-brother duo would really prefer to find a home together - but we may consider a separate placement into a home with another canine friendly dog to show either Parsley or Basil the ropes. We know a large, bonded pair of dogs may be difficult to place together in Vancouver -but they are spayed and neutered already- so a home from further away that's willing to come meet them would also be great!

Having basically just arrived at the shelter, these two are understandably afraid. They had a very small world in their previous home, only really knowing one person and never having experience going for walks or leaving the property.
Basil is more nervous than his sister, and will need more time and patience from an adoptive home to start coming out of his shell. He is a very sweet boy, who we feel in the right home is going to make great progress. Basil currently depends on his sister for a lot of his confidence with meeting new people. He is getting more comfortable with staff each day but will be nervous going into a new home. You can see that he really wants to engage and play (he especially loves to play with his sister!), but it will take time for him to feel safe in a new space with new people. Basil will need a quiet and adult only home to work on his confidence and to show him how great life as a pet can be. We do not know how the pair feels about small animals or cats. In the right home we feel Basil is going to be a big goofball, but he will need special humans to help him get there! Basil is still currently in the process of learning to walk on a leash.

Together is when we really see Parsley and Basil shine. They clearly adore each other, often giving each other kisses, jumping and playing together, and feeling more confident approaching strangers when together. We sincerely cannot wait to find someone looking for an adorable goofy pair of dogs, because these two are going to be such a great duo once given the opportunity to live a happy-dog life!

If you are interested in this pair, feel free to call the West Vancouver SPCA to ask questions, or fill out an application on our website. They will be available for viewing for serious adopters from TUES-SUNDAY 12pm-3pm daily. Primary Color: White Weight: 31.9kg Age: 1yrs 6mths 1wks Animal has been Neutered
