At just 10 months old, Basil has already come a long way. She was picked up as a stray in very condition. She was extremely underweight and unsure of the world around her. Everything was scary at first, and she tried her best to protect herself the only way she knew how.<br/><br/>But once she realized she was safe, everything changed.<br/><br/>Basil has blossomed into one of the sweetest girls you could meet. She loves being carried around, enjoys playtime in the yard, and soaks up affection from the people she trusts.<br/><br/>She can be timid when meeting new people, but with a little patience and kindness, her true personality shines through and it’s absolutely worth it. Basil is just looking for someone willing to give her that chance.

Henry County Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
A few friendly reminders: We are an open intake facility meaning we are unable to hold any pets due to space so if there is a specific pet and a date you plan on visiting, please let us know so we can update you should the animal get adopted prior to your visit! If the pet is not spayed/neutered at adoption it will be the adopter's responsibility to have the pet sterilized within 30 days of the adoption per VA State Code and signed contract if you live in Henry County. If you live out of our jurisdiction, we will have the animal spayed/neutered for you for an additional cost. Our adoption fees listed reflect the final cost of adoption after having the pet altered. We do require a meet and greet for those who have a multi-dog home. Adoption fees: Dogs $40/ Cats $20/ Puppies (1 year and younger) $80 with an approved application for unaltered pets.
