Tragically, Barney's brother was hit by a car, highlighting just how unsafe the situation was.<br/><br/>Barney, sweet and trusting by nature, would often follow kind neighbors wherever they went-something that raised serious concerns for his safety, as he was at constant risk of being injured himself. Although an owner was identified, Barney was rarely with them and spent most of his time alone on the street. Efforts were made to discuss neutering and to determine whether the owner was truly able or willing to care for him.<br/><br/>Wanting to protect him and give him a better chance, a compassionate community member stepped in. Barney was taken in, vaccinated, and neutered, and began receiving the care, structure, and attention he had been missing. This intervention ultimately made it possible for Barney to safely transition into rescue, where he could begin the next chapter of his life.<br/><br/>Now safe and cared for, Barney is ready to leave his past behind and find a loving, responsible home where he'll never have to worry about being on his own again.
