BARNEY's Story
Barney is a 4-year-old neutered male Border Collie/Aussie mix. • Not good with kids • Dog social • Loves car rides • Fearful and nervous when meeting new people. Barney will be muzzled for people introductions at shelter. Staff have been working with him on how to safely introduce him to people and identifying his threshold—helping him stay engaged with his handler when he starts to feel unsure. Barney knows basic commands like sit and shake, is currently working on “down,” and has just begun learning the command “look at me.” He’s looking for an experienced owner who understands herding breeds—someone who wants a loyal, intelligent companion and is willing to support him through fearful or overwhelming moments.
