Looking for an adorable, little black cat to make your home a whole lot cozier this fall? You are definitely looking for me! After all, how many other cats get the star treatment with a dog rescue!?! I am a long-haired domestic kitty, about 10–11 months old. With my soft, fluffy black coat and big golden eyes, I'm as handsome as I am sweet I was found as a stray by one of CDR's phenomenal foster moms while she was on her way to work in Palatine. The CDR vet thinks I may have spent my whole young life on the streets, so my foster home might be the first warm, safe place I've ever known. You'd never guess it, though. I am sweet as pie, love belly rubs, playing with you while lying on my back, and have the cutest curious stare of a young kitty still figuring out the world. Since I was an outdoor cat, I'm still working on my litter box habits, so I'd do best with a patient adopter who's happy to help me finish learning the ropes. And speaking of outdoor cats, CDR is looking for a home where I will be an indoor cat only. No options for outdoor roaming for me! Now...if you want to build me a catio...I wouldn't object! I am cat-friendly, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, people-friendly...let's just say all-around FRIENDLY! And, with a long life ahead of me, I'm ready to be someone's fantastic furry friend. My favorite things are curling up next to you on the couch and snuggling with you in bed. The only spooky thing about this black cat is how fast I'll steal your heart! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a pre-adoption application, and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quickly as they can!
Cuddles and purrs-Barley

Interested in adopting Barley?
**The ADOPTION FEE for this pet is $150 which includes getting the kitty up to date on vaccines, fecal test and deworming if necessary, heartworm test, spay or neuter (not including pre-surgical bloodwork) and a microchip.

Chicagoland Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
First step is to decide if you are ready for a long term commitment owning a dog. Ask yourself if you are ready for vet bills, cost of food, training the dog, and what would happen to him/her if you became ill. Once you have decided you are ready for the commitment, the next step is to come to an adoption show and meet the dog you are interested in. Sometimes people fall in love with a picture, only to find another dog at the show better suits what they are looking for. Please remember to bring all family members, including dog(s), who live at the home to meet the new dog. We do not adopt out dogs as gifts.

Our Mission
Chicagoland Dog Rescue (CDR) brought a few people together who had been doing rescue work on their own. Our common goal is to rescue dogs that suffer at the hands of cruel or ignorant owners, owner give-aways, or those that are homeless. We are a small group of volunteers who work full time jobs and try to help as many dogs...
