Barley is a survivor! <br/><br/>Barley's striking coat gets him noticed right away! He is a handsome brindle Dutch Shepherd/Akita mix who is around 4 years old. His sweet face and deep chocolate eyes hook passersby right away, but it takes a little bit of effort to win over his affection, and rightfully so, since he has been abandoned by owners multiple times. He loves a good squeaky toy, but may reject your attempts to win him over with treats.<br/><br/>Now thriving in his foster home, Barley enjoys the simple pleasures—sniffing around the yard, playing with his foster human and dog siblings, and soaking in every bit of affection he can get. He gets along with other dogs and is learning that people can be kind and trustworthy. Barley cannot be in a home with small animals, especially chickens or cats. Akitas are famous for their protective nature.<br/><br/>Barley would do best in a calm, understanding home with people who believe in second chances as much as he does. He doesn’t need perfection—just someone who will continue to help him grow and love him for who he is. Barley is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and is microchipped.
