Barkley's Story

Barkley: Queen of the Couch & Your Loyal Walking Buddy 🐾

If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who loves cozy nights and daily walks, Barkley might just be your girl.

Barkley is the kind of dog who makes a house feel warm and welcoming. She’s a fantastic couch companion, as she loves giving and receiving attention. She also loves her walks and is always happy to head out for a stroll and explore the world a little.

When Barkley wants something — whether it’s a walk or some extra affection — she has the sweetest way of asking. She’ll place her paw on you, a reminder that she requires assistance.

Barkley is house trained and not destructive, so can be left loose in the house, though she is also content being left in an x pen. She does have some resource guarding tendencies around other animals, but she has come a long way with patient guidance and consistency. She has been coexisting with a cat in her foster home, and while she could likely live with another dog or cat, it would take an experienced and committed owner willing to supervise interactions and continue supporting her success.

She has had interactions with a number of children since coming into care, such as her fosters 5 and 9 year old grandchildren, and has done well with all of them, though would probably be best suited to a home with dog savvy or slightly older kids.

Barkley is a sweet, devoted girl who’s ready to claim her spot on the couch — and in your heart. 🐾💛

Born: December 1st, 2019
Gender: Female
Breed: Husky Mix
Size: Medium (approx 50 pounds)
Cats: Preferably no
Dogs: No
Kids: Pet savvy kids
Adoption Fee: *SPONSORED ADOPTION FEE* (Reg $345)

If you are interested in meeting Barkley, applications can be found here:

http://mgpr.weebly.com/dog-adoption-application.html

Thank you to Sunny S-H Photography for the beautiful photos of Barkley

Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue's Adoption Policy
The adoption process starts with an application form to find out more information about your family to ensure the best fit for the dog. Applications can be found at http://mgpr.weebly.com/ Second step is to have reference checks and vet checks. We want to ensure all dogs go to responsible loving homes. Thirdly, is the meet and greet with the dog you are interested in adopting. We encourage all members of your family to be in attendance at this visit as the dog will be an integral part of all of their lives. The final step of the adoption process is a home visit from one of our team members. The home visit allows us to see the environment in which the dog will be living as well as to offer any tips and advice to making your home dog friendly. Then your new family member will come home to shower your family with unconditional love.
