Barkley's Story
10 years old, 83 lbs

Personality: smart, playful, affectionate, goofy/funny, and energetic.

Meet Barkley! Despite his name, this gentle old soul rarely barks. He's an affectionate, energetic, curious boy who loves nothing more than a chew toy or a treat-and spending time with you! His wiggle and hop when you have a treat to give him will be the cutest thing you experience all day, every day.

Barkley is a senior boy with the playful energy of a much younger pup. He's a champ at catching treats tossed into the air! He is thrilled by every dog he comes across at the dog park, and is very polite in all interactions with them.

Barkley knows words like "sit", "down", "off", "paw, "c'mon-up," and he is eager to learn more at your side. He is house trained and very comfortable in the crate, where he can settle for up to 6 hours or so. He's also getting much better at pulling less on his leash, and is now sporting a fashionable new harness that helps him feel more comfortable while out and about.

Barkley is ready to join you on your adventures and shower you with plenty of goofy, tenderhearted love. Apply today to meet Barkley!

Barkley's rescue was made possible through a special senior dog sponsorship by Madison Mellish Peralta in honor of her own senior City Dog rescue.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC.
