Bark O'Lucky's Story

Bark O'Lucky A182588
51 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old

-This boy has a past we will never know, but we would love for his future to be full of love and comfort!
-He can be timid to start and is flinchy when touched, but he still wants to be close and loved on!
-You are not going anywhere in a hurry when it comes to walks! This boy wants to meander and sniff and sniff and sniff some more! He's a leisurely kind of guy.
-Once he started to relax (it took some time) he would lean in for pets
-I offered a treat in the beginning which he took very gently before spitting out. Several minutes later I offered another and he ate it. He will "sit" once in a while but it doesn't seem like he really understands what I am asking. He will jump up (but not on you) for food sometimes but listens well and gets down.
-Pets and positive attention seem newer to him but he's starting to enjoy it all!
-He definitely needs someone to go very slow with him to feel safe and comfortable
-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

*Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

*Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

*The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30

**1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
