Barcelona's Story

Meet Barcelona (or Barce to her friends), a stunning 6-year-old Great Dane who truly has it all: the looks, the temperament, and the wisdom that only a well-lived life can bring.

At 110 pounds, Barcelona is pure love wrapped in a gentle giant package. Don’t let her age fool you, she still has plenty of playful energy and delights in frolicking, play-bowing, and enjoying carefree moments of fun. She balances that joy beautifully with a calm, steady presence that makes her an absolute dream to live with.

Barcelona is perfectly house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and rides like a pro in the car. She was originally rescued from Dallas Animal Services, where black dogs are so often overlooked, and quickly proved just how special she is. In January 2024, she was adopted into a loving home with children and two other large dogs. Unfortunately, a move to a much smaller home meant her family had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender her two years later.

True to her easygoing nature, Barcelona transitioned back into foster care without missing a beat. She’s adaptable, resilient, and ready (truly ready!) for her actual forever home. Everyone who meets her is struck by how gentle she is, how calm yet goofy her personality can be, and is genuinely baffled that someone could ever let her go.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and endlessly impressive companion, Barcelona may be the perfect fit. To apply to adopt this incredible girl, please submit an application at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Barcelona's adoption fee is $300, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.

Code Red Animal Project Inc.'s Adoption Policy
All of our adoptions are foster-to-adopt, giving adopters the opportunity to have a trial period. We firmly believe that it is impossible to know if a pet will be a good fit for your home based on a brief encounter. A trial period allows you to see the pet in your home as they decompress and find comfort, and introduce them to different situations and settings that are important in your life. Prior to finalizing adoption, we ask that the pet be seen by your vet so that your trusted veterinary team can assess the animal's health, note vaccination records, and prescribe 6-12 months of heartworm prevention (for dogs).
