Diamonds in the Ruff's Adoption Policy
Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue Adoption Process: Our process is focused on the welfare of the rescue dog, as the needs of the dog are our primary concern. Each APPLICATION will be processed by an adoption counselor. The counselor will initially screen applications to determine if all necessary information is provided. Incomplete applications will not be considered, as the information you give us on your application is essential in determining the compatibility of the dog you have requested with your lifestyle. The DITR counselor will review your personal references and conduct a VET REFERENCE CHECK to determine the health of your current and/or past animals. ALL potential adoptive families must have up-to-date veterinary records on all pets currently residing in the home. We believe for health and temperament reasons that it is in the best interest of cats and dogs to be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age. We will not adopt a dog into a home if pets(s) are not altered. If your application is approved, we will make contact with you to answer any questions you may have regarding our rescue dogs. All rescues within our program are in volunteer foster care homes, located in North Carolina. We do not maintain a facility or shelter. Available dog's photos and their stories may be viewed on Petfinder. Visitation, once a potential adoptive match is thought to be found, is by MEET & GREET invitation appointment only. Our organization requires a HOME VISIT to determine that the dog will be living in a safe setting. This is an informal chance for us to get to know you, your lifestyle and home environment. In addition, this visit will help determine which rescue dog(s) in our program might be the best fit. The home visit volunteer will do a short walk-through of your home and yard to ensure its safety and review any areas of concern. All household members MUST BE present for the home visit. ADOPTION - Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue charges a small fee to adopt a pet. This fee helps cover the cost of caring for the dogs, initial vet examination (medical attention if necessary) and preparing them for adoption. (The adoption fee for an approved application is $200.00) **FENCED IN YARD REQUIRED** Fence must be attached to the home (no invisible fencing, electric fencing or outdoor pens) Please visit us on our Facebook page for additional photos, give us a LIKE while you're there! https://www.facebook.com/diamondsintheruffNC All of our dogs are fostered in homes and are INDOOR dogs. We believe all dogs are family members and should be treated as valued members of the household. All applicants must be 25 years of age or older. All applicants must have established and excellent vet records (dog or cat) Please review our adoption guidelines for further information on adopting from Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue before submitting an application. www.DITRnc.com. If at any time during the dog's life you cannot fulfill your commitment to your rescue dog, you will be required to return the dog to Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue. **Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant**
