BARBEQUE's Story
I am a handsome guy that came to OCAS from another shelter. I am often cautious about people when I meet them and I'll need everyone to go slow with me, but I am warming up and I hope to find people that will love me and give me time and space to adjust in a new, loving home. INSIGHTS FROM MY FRIENDS: Barbeque is just wonderful! Although he is very shy with new people, once he's warmed up, he's good to go. On our walk on Bolin Creek Trail, he would freeze whenever he saw someone approaching on the path, and then stand still until they'd pass. He never lunged or barked at any strangers– he just wanted to be sure they'd respect his space. At times, he would retreat off trail to avoid larger passerby (bikes and strollers). He did great in my fenced yard, and while he was nervous with my roommates at first, he eventually warmed up and would accept treats/pets from the whole household when approached one-by-one. He'll need to be with someone who can be patient with him and won't rush him into introductions. He was scared and timid at first but warmed up quickly after a walk and some treats and turned into the absolute sweetest cuddlebug! He is timid but doesn’t take long to warm up then just wants to snuggle. So gentle and loving. Barbeque is just wonderful! He's nervous around new people, but once he knows he can trust you, he is super cuddly. My favorite thing about him was watching him open up as the day went on. He would make a lovely companion :) A very sweet, gentle dog. Like many dogs, will require patience as he finds his routine in a home. He can get startled easily and it can sometimes be challenging leashing him for a walk, but yet he is fine to walk, no pulling unless there's a squirrel. He eats well. He loves to snuggle, particularly on his own terms when he is ready for snuggle time. He really doesn't like his crate or getting in the car. He's an adorable, sensitive soul. My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!
