BANDIT's Story

I am very cute and friendly. Reportedly, I have not done well around cats and other small animals in the past (I chase them), I may do best in a home without smaller animals unless someone has the time to dedicate to training - I am young so I still have a lot to learn. I reportedly did well with potty training in my previous home, and I have done very well with people since I came to the shelter. I'll make a great companion in the right home. Foster notes on Bandit: Bandit has been a great foster. We have taken him and our dog on many social outings. He is extremely friendly with everyone, including children. He is very treat motivated and is already showing progress on less pulling and jumping. Although he’s energetic, he also loves to cuddle and wants to lean against us when we are on the couch watching TV. He is extremely friendly with everyone that he meets and loves to cuddle. Bandit is such a sweet pup! We went on a 3-mile hike, and he loved being outside. He did very well on leash and was super curious and excited! He was really friendly to new people and once he settles in, gets very cuddly and LOVES pets/scratches. He is a total sweetheart and would thrive in any home! Bandit is a wonderful dog very energetic, playful, and full of happy vibes. He loves to play for about 30 minutes and then settles down for a nice 30-minute nap, which makes him a great balance of fun and calm. He has a sweet personality and brings so much joy to the home. He would be absolutely perfect for a young, active family or anyone who enjoys playtime and companionship. Whoever adopts him will be truly lucky to have such a loving and cheerful dog in their life. He loves to watch TV. Bandit is a wonderful dog who is very friendly, playful, and cuddly. He responds well to commands he knows, like sit, and picks up new commands pretty fast, like down, if he is jumping on you. He has some puppy energy but tires with walks or play. The puppy energy sometimes comes out as jumping on you or others or running outside before he is told to. He wants to be around you all the time, which is wonderful and sweet. The only downside is that he will push through doors to try and follow you (could be problematic when leaving the house through the front door but he has not made an attempt to escape at our house). He does bark at people walking by or animals. He also barks at cats. You can tell that he wants to play with the cats, even though they don't want to play with him. Though it's likely he would acclimate to a cat if he was adopted into a house with one or several. He is so sweet and loving. I think he would be very trainable; he's highly motivated to please people and also treat-motivated. Bandit was a very sweet, energetic dog! Extremely food driven! Would be a great running partner and is good on the leash. We took a walk around the park, did some name training, and would occasionally run and he seemed to really like running. At the end of our day out experience, we went and got a pup cup. He was very friendly with the drive-through people and loved the pup cup. I wish I would’ve had my running shoes, because he is a great runner! Bandit loved going on a hike! He was super excited when we picked him up at the shelter, but after that he had surprisingly good manners for a 7 month old. He was calm in the car and pretty good on the leash, although he does pull some as you would expect from a big puppy. He has a happy, cheerful, playful personality, and was a lot of fun to take a hike with. He has a lot of energy and endurance and was really in his element going on a 3.5 mile hike in the woods. He loves being outside and checking out all the scents. He was not fearful or reactive to anything and showed friendly interest in the other people and dogs on the trail. He sat for treats and took them gently, and he didn't bark a single time. He also seemed very affectionate. I sat in the backseat with him on the way back to the shelter and he would sit or stand close to me and lean in. He also likes to give kisses. Bandit is an exceptional dog and we think he would do especially well with an active family that can take him on hikes or long walks to give him some outdoor exercise.
