Bambi's Story
Meet Bambi, the tiny grandma with opinions, sass, and a heart bigger than her 9 pound body!

Bambi is 15 years old and fully convinced she runs the world. And honestly, we let her. She is still bright eyed, spunky, and very much enjoying her life.

Do not picture a fragile little dog who just lies around all day. She appreciates a good nap, but she also bounces around with happiness and excitement. When her people move, she follows. When the door opens to the yard, she is ready to explore. She will even happily tear into a plush toy with surprising enthusiasm.

This girl LOVES people. She wants your lap, your hands, your attention, your whole heart. Sit down and you instantly gain a tiny supervisor who believes your lap was made specifically for her. She melts into you, soaks up affection like it is her life's purpose, and looks at you like you hung the moon.

Now, because Bambi would insist on honesty, she does have boundaries. Nail trims are highly offensive. Being restrained is unnecessary in her opinion. Diapers are an absolute no. She is a strong, independent senior lady who prefers to make her own decisions. If pushed too far, she will remind you she still has a few teeth and strong opinions. Not because she is mean, but because she is very clear about her boundaries.

She also still marks indoors. Yes, she lifts her leg like an old man and claims her space. We have tried to reason with her, but she remains unchanged. Whoever loves her will need a sense of humor and realistic expectations.

With other dogs, she can be an old grouchy girl. She prefers to be the boss and is not interested in negotiating leadership roles. Cats, however, are beneath her concern. She ignores them as if they do not even exist.

Sadly, Bambi is heartworm positive and has a heart murmur, a cough, and arthritis in her tiny hind legs. She will need a family who understands senior care and is willing to keep her comfortable and loved.

Most of her life was spent outside. Only in the last two years did she get to experience life indoors. She came to us when her owner's health declined and she had to move into assisted living. She arrived with her daughter Pokie and grandson Taz, who are now settling into foster to adopt homes.

And Bambi, our cherished little grandma, is alone and waiting.

Fifteen years with one person. A lifetime of loyalty. Then loss. And still she leans into every hand that pets her. She climbs into laps like she believes love will find her again. Bambi is a tiny survivor. A fiercely loyal little soul who still wakes up every day ready to love with everything she has left.

If you can appreciate a tiny grandma who will absolutely boss you around while loving you with her entire being, Bambi is your girl! 🐾🐾❤️
