Bambi's Story

MEET BAMBI

The perfect home for Bambi would be with an older couple who enjoy slow, daily walks which are vital to her health and happiness. She would also do well in a home with older children, but not in a home with small children. With her eyesight limitations and still new to living indoors, Bambi would thrive in a quiet home with supervision so she is not accidently lost. If a door is left open she is going to run out. She is adapting remarkably well to living in a home, but still favors being outside.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This lady is as sweet as the forest animal she was named for. Her foster says:

'She is so gentle and not a pushy dog at all'
'Bambi is a quiet dog, sometimes I look for her and she is quietly napping'
'Wow, how smart she is, learning the routine and slipping right into the pack'

Some interesting things about Bambi:

Background: Bambi's owner moved and left her behind to fend for herself in a trailer park. Tenant's there fed her and ultimately also cared for her litters of puppies. It wasn't until they noticed her eyesight failing that a tenant begged for help with this family.

Health: Bambi was remarkably HW- which spoke to her overall healthy constitution. She was malnourished and needed to put on some weight. Once in better condition, she was spayed and had entropian surgery on her eyes. Because she had cataracts for a long time, she will likely always have some impairment. But Bambi does sees shapes like large poles and manholes but needs to be watched not to veer out into the street. She is a slow, gentle walker and loves her daily walks. Bambi is on a cooked diet and her coat has become luxurious and soft. Shedding is now very light. What a transformation! With the weight gain and nutrition she has blossomed into a beautiful dog.

Personality: After months in her foster home Bambi has learned how to live indoors and relax in a comfy dog bed. She does enjoy laying on the patio on cool mornings and evenings. She loves nothing more than a slow, luxurious walk and through this activity has potty trained herself. Bambi had to learn to trust but has been a good student. Usually content to relax wherever she chooses, she will seek foster out occasionally for some much needed one on one time. Bambi is in a home with other dogs, both big and small, old and young and does great. She does have her eye on Jeb, the young cavalier man in the house, and it's comical to watch as they play in short bursts. Over time she has worn down his trepidation to play and now they look like an old married couple. She would do well in a home with another playful adult dog.

Bambi has come so far in such a short amount of time. She is such a smart girl and learns eagerly and quickly how to please and how to get a treat. She has quickly learned how to kennel, how to sit, and how to go 'place' to relax.

Bambi is spayed and UTD on her vaccines. She is located in Houston, TX and would love to meet you to see if you could be her new family and she could be your best friend!

Bambi is with No One's Dog Rescue in Cypress, Texas. We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit who take in street dogs, revitalize their health and find loving forever homes.
