Bambi

Formally introducing Bambi! Bambi came to us in March from an area shelter where she was terrified and shut down. She trembled in fear but we could see a side of her that was craving love. We decided to take a chance on this sweet little girl. Bambi was able to decompress in a quiet foster home for a full month. There, she showed that with time she was able to relax, trust and love. She showed us her insanely sweet personality and that she does have a bit of a playful side. We decided to start testing her with different experiences to see how she would handle them. Her first outing was a big one! A festival full of people and other dogs. We were nervous but Bambi did amazing! Bambi was moved to a new foster home with a lot more action which has begun to teach her how to adapt to different experiences and further come out of her shell. What we know about Bambi so far- She may be the sweetest dog that ever existed. She loves to be loved and cuddled and craves all the human affection. Young kids make her nervous so she will need a child free home. Her energy level is perfect. She is playful and loves to do zoomies in the yard but is also happy gnawing her bone on the couch. She is housebroken, crate trained and walks well on a leash. She is curious and smart. She is learning basic commands and manners quickly. Treats help. She loves treats. She steals shoes. She bonds quickly to her chosen person and will always look to them for direction. She loves hard and is learning to share the attention of her human. She needs a little time to warm up but loves playing with other dogs. She loves to wrestle, chase and be chased. She likes tug-o-war and fetch. She can get overstimulated and sometimes needs breaks. Her people should be attentive and aware of her body language. She redirects easily and doesn’t hold a grudge. Bambi is a good car rider and at 36 lbs, very portable. She has even started doggie day care and loves it. <br/>Some considerations for Bambi’s new home- No young children, teenagers would be fine. She would be happy as an only dog or with other dogs who are tolerant and calm with a similar playful energy to hers. We do not believe she would do well with cats as she does seem to have a bit of a prey drive. A home that is calm and comfortable but still offers different experiences and ways to show Bambi that the world isn’t all that scary. Attentive people that will read Bambi’s body language, understand her anxieties and make her feel safe. Her people should be patient and allow Bambi time to adjust to her new home. They should understand that while she may extra time to trust, once she does she transforms into a happy, loving and amazing companion.<br/><br/>An adoption fee of $250 includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, flea and heartworm preventatives if appropriate, and all necessary medical costs while in our care.<br/><br/>If you are interested in adopting this dog, please email Familyadditiondogrescue@gmail.com to request an application. **We typically respond within a few hours.
