Baloo has been at the shelter since March, and he still comes to the front of his kennel for every person who walks past like this is the one he has been waiting on.<br/><br/>He is a 1.5 year old blue pit bull, seventy five pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative, so he is ready to go home the day he is matched. He is polite, he is easy to be around, and he is still the first one up when anybody comes through the door.<br/><br/>What he wants is a person. He is people oriented in a way that shapes his whole day, and he would rather be near you doing nothing than be somewhere else doing something interesting. He is treat motivated and eager to learn, which makes training him genuinely fun, and he has a playful, puppyish side that has not worn off yet. He likes being active and he likes being worked with. Someone who wants a dog to teach things to is going to have a very good year with him.<br/><br/>A few honest things before you apply. Baloo can get mouthy when he is excited. There is no intent behind it, he is a young dog telling you he is glad you are there, but seventy five pounds of enthusiasm is a lot to absorb, and that is why we are looking for a home without young children. He appears to do well with other dogs, though that comes from watching him here rather than from a formal introduction, so any resident dog would need a proper meeting first. He has never been assessed with cats, so we cannot tell you how he would do living with one.<br/><br/>We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
