Balki's Story

2/7/26 Look at this handsome guy!! Not only is he handsome, he is house trained, crate trained, cat, dog, and kid friendly! He’s the whole package! Read on for all info-
Balki is a super sweet and loving boy who is good with everyone-cats, dogs, and kids. He is fully house trained and crate trained. We do not know his breed but our best guess is Lab mix. He has long legs and a slim build. He loves other dogs and does well with cats. Great with kids!
He had a very hard start in life. He was in a shelter where he contracted parvo virus and barely survived. But he fought hard to live and he won! He beat the dreaded parvo and is now regaining weight and doing so well! He is a great little guy who likes everyone. We believe he may have been dumped before he ended up at the shelter because he is scared of cars. When walking on leash, if he is near a car or truck, he gets visibly scared and will try to pull away. Once he is inside the car he does fine. He just has some emotional scars that are still healing. But he's getting better all the time, thanks to a foster helping him feel safe.
He is about 7 months old. He weighs about 40 lbs. He will likely be a big boy once grown. He is a little delayed in his growth due to having parvo when he was a baby but he is catching up. We believe he will be around 60 lbs once grown.
He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Balki is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays.
To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059
Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.

Adopt A Stray Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process begins with an adoption application, which requires 3 non family personal references and a vet reference if the applicant has had pets in the past 5 years. We check all references, asking about their home, yard, available time for a pet, financial capability of caring for a pet, etc. We contact their vet on file and verify that past or present pets have been spayed/neutered and kept up to date on recommended vaccinations as well as heartworm prevention. If all references check out, we then use various social media apps and google to make sure there are no red flags, then we move forward with the adoption if all of that checks out.
