Bailey's Story

Here's the story on sweet, family-ready Bailey: <br/>"Bailey’s world changed overnight — and none of this is her fault.<br/><br/>Her family just welcomed a newborn who suffered severe, life-threatening allergic reactions that required an ER visit. With nowhere safe to stay and no other option, Bailey was heartbreakingly surrendered. <br/>This was a medical crisis, not a choice - and Bailey is paying the price. She deserves a soft place to land and a chance to keep being the good dog she is.."<br/><br/>Bailey's foster dad says: <br/>"Bailey is the kind of dog that makes people stop mid-sentence just to smile at her. She’s goofy, affectionate, incredibly social, and somehow manages to be both an adventure buddy and a professional cuddle specialist at the exact same time.<br/><br/>She LOVES people. All people, all ages Other dogs? Instant friends. Bailey thrives around others and has a playful, happy energy.<br/><br/>Whether she’s splashing around in a creek, riding shotgun on a car ride, zooming around the dog park, or upside down on the couch like a baked potato with paws, Bailey just wants to be part of the fun. She has a huge personality, a contagious smile, and the sweetest, most loving temperament.<br/><br/>She’s the type of dog that will happily go on adventures with you during the day and then curl up next to you at night convinced she’s a 12-pound lap dog.<br/><br/>Bailey would do amazing in a home with kids, other dogs, active humans, or honestly anyone looking for a loyal best friend with endless love to give."<br/><br/>Bailey is about 1.5 yo and weighs about 50 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, screened for parasites, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $390 cash and she is available for foster-to-adopt within the Chicago area. <br/><br/>For more information and an adoption application, please email UnderdogRailway@yahoo.com

Underdog Railway Rescue's Adoption Policy
For an adoption application, please email underdograilway@yahoo.com Our dogs are housed in private foster homes, and may be viewed at adoption events, or by appointment with an approved application. We do not have a shelter facilty. Please note:  barring special circumstances, we limit our adoptions to the Chicago metro area. Under no circumstance will we ship a dog anywhere. We cannot hold dogs. We do not adopt pitbulls or other bully breeds to renters. This is due to the scarcity of bully-friendly rental housing, which all to often leads to relinquishment or abandonment of the dog. Shelters are overwhelmed with pitbulls left homeless for these reasons. If you have other dogs in your home, they must be spayed/neutered/UTD on vetting, barring a current and valid veterinarian exemption. Our base adoption fee is $390 (cash), and includes spay/neuter, microchipping, heartworm testing, deworming/parasite screening, and vaccinations for rabies, distemper/parvo, leptospirosis, and bordetella (kennel cough).  Some of our dogs also require and are treated for extraordinary medical conditions such as dental decay, heartworm, orthopedic or oral surgery, malnutrition, infections, etc. Our dogs live in our homes, so we can provide temperament and behavior insights to help ensure a good fit with an adoptive family. Our foster-to-adopt program is basically a trial adoption, which allows approved applicants to host the dog for 1-2 weeks before committing to a permanent adoption. When the adoptado is complete, The adopter receives the dog's vetting records and microchip registration information, and the adaptation fee is due. We do not have a physical shelter. Our dogs may be seen at our scheduled adoption events, or by appointment. A completed application is required prior to any appointments. Volunteers welcome. Please consider fostering with us. You would be helping us save lives.
