Bailey's Story
Bailey was found abandoned outside emaciated and left to die, tied to a rope for over a month with no food, water, or shelter. He has been at the shelter for 130 days. That’s 3,120 hours of waiting for a family. His pictures of when he was found are heart breaking, as you can see every bone in his body. But his recent pictures will make you laugh! That’s just the kind of dog Bailey is. Goofy, derpy, chonky, and full of love and affection. The love and attention he’s received at the shelter is the most he’s ever had. He didn’t know what kisses, hugs, toys, or even pets or belly rubs were. Now he can’t wait to see his shelter family every day to give and get all the lovins! His adopter must be prepared for a high energy dog that needs lots of training, specifically on resource guarding, because he was failed as a pup and never given proper structure or training. Bailey also REQUIRES MULTIPLE MEET & GREETS so he is 100% comfortable with his new family and they are 100% comfortable with him. We want him set up for SUCCESS!
We don’t know exactly what Bailey has seen or been through but we know he will never experience anything like it again. He will need an owner that understands his past was not easy and he was not given the basic training or structure a dog needs. dog who was found

-BAILEY is a 2-3 year old Pit/Staffy mix weighing around 60 lbs, with a big heart and even bigger head.
-Never had a home so needs work with potty and leash training, and overall learning how to be a dog in a loving home
-Due to his history of neglect, it is not uncommon for dogs with that experience to be possessive of toys. We suggest not giving him toys. (Yes we said it and no that’s not cruel, it’s in his and everyone’s best interest.) However healthy chews that can “disappear” aka be eaten are absolutely ok while he’s in a separate room, safe space, or crate.
-Neutered
-No other pets
-No children under 16
-High energy and needs a yard to play in , preferably fenced in but not a necessity .

-Apply to adopt or foster at sullivanspca.org/adopt.
If you are interested in fostering, please specify ‘foster’ His owner will need to be patient and give him time to come out of his shell. Most importantly he needs an owner that WILL NOT GIVE UP ON HIM.
