Meet Bailey!<br/><br/>Bailey is a sweet senior pitty mix looking for a very special kind of forever home—one where she can spend the next chapter of her life surrounded by comfort, companionship, and people who absolutely adore her.<br/><br/>Bailey came to us after her family was no longer able to keep her. Over time, we began noticing changes in her energy as well as several concerning lumps and growths. Samples from multiple growths have since been evaluated by multiple veterinarians, and unfortunately, all have confirmed that Bailey has cancer. Lymphoma is currently suspected, but determining the exact type would require additional diagnostic testing that is beyond what our small nonprofit rescue is able to pursue.<br/><br/>Because we don't have that definitive diagnosis, we also don't have a timeline for Bailey. We simply don't know whether we're talking about months, a year, or potentially longer. What we do know is that anyone considering bringing Bailey home needs to understand that she is essentially looking for a hospice-style forever home—one prepared to love her for however much time she has.<br/><br/>But here's the thing about Bailey: if you met her today, you probably wouldn't know any of that.<br/><br/>Bailey is currently feeling good, has plenty of life and personality left in her, and doesn't have many—if any—limitations because of her cancer at this time. She is on medications to help manage any pain or discomfort she may be experiencing, and our goal is to keep her feeling as comfortable and happy as possible for as long as possible.<br/><br/>These days, Bailey is all about the simple things. She loves lounging on the couch with her people, occasionally checking the window to see what's happening, and simply being close to her family. She's not a fan of spending long periods outside and would much rather be relaxing indoors beside someone she loves.<br/><br/>Bailey loves people, especially adults and older children. She's house-trained, doesn't destroy things, is food-motivated, eager to please, and is also a great car rider! She does have a few boundaries, including preferring not to be petted on the top of her head, but once you respect them, she'll happily show you her sweet and affectionate side.<br/><br/>Bailey is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Like any dog transitioning from shelter life into a home, she'll need patience while she adjusts to a new environment and routine.<br/><br/>Adopting Bailey means accepting some uncertainty. Her future may eventually include additional medications, changes in her comfort or mobility, and difficult decisions as her cancer progresses. We can't promise her adopter how much time they'll get with her.<br/><br/>What we can promise is that Bailey is still very much here—and she's ready to live the time she has.<br/><br/>She deserves a couch instead of a kennel. She deserves someone to come home to. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $125, which covers part of the medical care she will receive.<br/><br/>**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.<br/>Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
