Axle's Story

Meet Axle! Axle is a 1-year-old, big-hearted goofball with lots of energy and an even bigger personality. He's the kind of dog who naturally makes people smile with his bouncy, playful spirit and love for all things fun. Whether he's zooming around the play yard, tossing toys in the air, or proudly carrying his favorite treasure, Axle brings a lot of joy wherever he goes.

Axle can be a little unsure when meeting new people at first and does best with a calm, easy introduction where he can check things out at his own pace. Give him a little time, and his playful, affectionate side starts to show. Once he's comfortable, he enjoys attention, likes being pet, and is happy to engage with his people.

An active guy at heart, Axle loves being outside, especially when there's snow involved. Walks, play yard time, tug-of-war, and toys are all high on his list. On leash, he can pull when excitement kicks in, but he's eager to get out and explore and benefits from steady guidance. Treats are a great motivator for him, and he already knows how to sit!

Axle is looking for a home that understands he may need a little time to settle in and can offer plenty of activity and enrichment. He's a playful, goofy guy with lots of love to share.

Axle at a Glance

Age: 1 year
Personality: Sweet, playful, energetic
Training: Knows sit (especially for treats); working on leash manners
Favorite Activities: Playing with toys, running around outside (snow days included!), going for walks

SPCA of Southwest Michigan's Adoption Policy
We have same day adoptions! You are welcome to visit our shelter anytime during our open hours. When you visit, you can either look through the kennel first or go into a meet and greet room with an available animal of interest. In the meet and greet room, we will let you spend time with the animal and read off their file. If you have a dog at home, you can bring them along with you to do a dog-to-dog meet and greet. The main question we ask is if you own or rent your home. If you rent we check your pet policy. Bring your pet policy with you; as that is the quickest way for us to check. Once that clears, all you would need to do is fill out an adoption contract and pay their adoption fee. They would go home with you after that! If you are adopting a cat, you are welcome to bring your own carrier with you. We do have carriers to borrow or cardboard boxes to send home with you if you do not have one. If you are adopting a dog, you are welcome to bring your own leash and collar. We do have leashes and collars to send home with you as well. Holds We offer holds over the phone and in-person. The hold fee is $50 and is non-refundable. Holds over the phone are for 24 hours and holds in-person are for 48 hours.
